Superintendent’s Message
It is my pleasure to welcome you back to the 2011-2012
school year. As a school district, we believe that education
is the key to a successful future. To meet the challenge of
preparing our students for the future, we must stay focused
on our highest priority: ensuring that improved academic achievement
becomes a reality for EVERY Cucamonga School District student.
I continue to believe this can be best accomplished in a culture
of respect and support, with the highest of expectations for
each one of our students, each other and ourselves.
Challenges are
only met when everyone commits to work together in a cooperative
and dedicated manner. In the Cucamonga School District, to meet
the challenge, rigorous content standards are used to guide instruction
in all academic areas. Resources are provided to purchase standards
based textbooks and instructional materials for all students.
Schools are staffed with high quality teachers and support staff
who participate in ongoing professional development to keep their
instructional techniques current. Our schools are expected to
maintain an environment in which students, parents and staff feel
valued, empowered and welcome.
The success of our students is built on the strong partnership
the Cucamonga School District enjoys between home and school.
The ongoing support and partnership provided by you, Cucamonga
School District parents, continues to be an essential part of
the academic progress your children and their school can and will
make. I encourage you to do four things on a daily basis that
will both assist your children and be of support to their Cucamonga
School District teachers and staff:
-
Importance of School-Respect for
Teachers
Please ensure that your children know how important their
education is now, and for their future. Discuss with them
your high level of support and appreciation for their teachers
and the work they do each day, as they attempt to provide
an exemplary educational program in each classroom.
-
Homework
Please ensure that your children fully complete their homework
every evening and are prepared for school each morning.
-
Believe in Your Children
Please ensure that your children know in their mind and
heart your belief in who they are, what they can do, and
what they can be.
-
Student Daily Attendance
Please ensure that your children come to school ready to
learn each day. Studies show that there is a direct correlation
between good school attendance and student achievement.
Additionally, schools only receive state funding for students
who actually attend school. Since 1998, school districts
no longer receive funding from the State of California for
pupils who are absent from school. Please continually reinforce
the importance of good school attendance and make every
effort to send your children to school on a regular basis.
You can be pleased with the academic programs
your children are receiving from teachers and support staff
at each school throughout the school district. Once again, thank
you for your ongoing support. Let’s continue to work together
to ensure that your children are successful in a rigorous educational
program that will help prepare them well for their future.
On behalf of the Cucamonga School District Governing
Board and myself, I wish for each of our students and staff
a highly successful and very productive 2011-2012 school year.
