School Climate

     Los Amigos means "the friends." Los Amigos School is a friendly, caring place. The  warmth and support of the entire school community promotes the intellectual, social  and emotional growth of students and adults. Teachers and other staff members work  collegially with one another and interact with each other in a professional manner.  Teachers and other staff members are partners in the decision making at the school.  Teachers and other staff members nurture, guide and encourage students to be all they  can be. Students respect the adult role models as well as other students at school.  Parents are encouraged to be full participating partners in their child's education and in  the daily life of the school.

     Positive behavior is the focus through intrinsic rewards. The most common reward  is a pat on the back. Dragon of the Month assemblies honor academic excellence, good  citizenship. Good Attendance and Honor Roll  students are spotlighted and held in  esteem. Lunch Bunch, phone calls, post cards  home and the Library Limo are used to  reinforce  positive behavior.
