The Cucamonga School District is moving into greener energy sources through a districtwide solar project and will be installing energy producing solar arrays at each of the District’s four school sites. The new solar arrays will be able to produce approximately 70-75% of our schools’ energy needs from the sun’s constant and renewable energy. This 834 kilowatt (KW) solar project is estimated to save the District approximately $3 million over the 25-year contract period.
The layout of the solar arrays at each site will be based on the available space and the location of the power connections. Most of the arrays will be placed in the playfields, providing shaded areas for children to play, as well as in the school parking lots. For more information about the school district’s solar project, you may contact the Business Office at (909) 987-8942 x8238.
