SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
9/12/25

Dear Cucamonga SD Families:

We’re excited to be back with this week’s newsletter, featuring highlights from across our district. This week, we’re spotlighting two of our amazing school sites and sharing a behind-the-scenes look at a powerful new professional learning opportunity for teachers.

Our Educational Services team recently launched the Effective Writing Cohort—a hands-on training designed to strengthen writing instruction and support student success across all subjects.

Scroll down to see what’s happening in our classrooms and on our campuses!

BUILDING STRONG WRITERS FOR THE FUTURE

Educational Services department is excited to launch our Effective Writing Cohort, a professional learning workshop for teachers that will directly benefit our students. Teachers will be learning powerful, research-based strategies to help students grow as confident writers and researchers across every subject.

Key highlights of the cohort include:

  • Practice all types of writing—from stories to essays to research reports.
  • Strengthen student skills in research, inquiry, and critical thinking.
  • Explore cross-curricular, standards-based learning through the Science of Learning, educational technology, and proven research practices.
  • Learn how to apply writing to real-world situations, preparing them for college, career, and life.
  • Build important Portrait of a Graduate skills such as creativity, resilience, and collaboration.
  • For grades 3–8, gain access to a new AI Class Companion platform that supports writing in every subject area.

Take care,

Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

RANCHO CUCAMONGA MIDDLE SCHOOL

By Bobby Collins - Principal

Can you believe it? We are already more than 10% of the way through the school year. It has been an awesome start to the 25-26 year, and we are so excited to see our students continuing to grow and thrive at RCMS. Each day, we see our students showing their Lion PRIDE: being Positive, having Respect, showing Integrity, working with Determination, and having Empathy for those around them.

Volleyball season is underway with a record-breaking start! Over 75 students came out to try for a coveted spot on the RCMS Volleyball team. We know our students are in good hands with Coach Cruz and Coach English leading our students. We can’t wait to see our lions shine when they compete against our neighboring schools.

After-school enrichment and intervention classes are starting soon! Kudos to our teachers for offering some really amazing opportunities for our students. From crocheting to gardening to e-sports, there is really something for everyone! Classes will start September 22nd and 23rd.

Finally, I had the opportunity to meet with the RCMS staff this week to take a look at state testing data from last spring. We are so thrilled at the growth our students made this past year. In all areas, our RCMS staff is pushing students towards academic excellence every day - and our students are rising to the challenge. RCMS Lions, we are so proud of your hard work and determination! Keep up the awesome work!

CUCAMONGA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Dear Cubs Families,

Community Involvement at CES

We want to thank our families for the incredible energy, support, and presence brought to campus already this year. August and the start of September have been all about community involvement and family participation, and we are off to a strong and connected start!

🐷 One School One Book

This month, we announced our One School One Book title during a morning assembly! This year CES will be reading Charlotte’s Web as a whole school community. Classes have already begun to read and learn about the power of friendship, life on a farm, and standing up for others. These themes tie directly into our district’s Portrait of a Graduate, especially the traits of resiliency, problem solving, empathy, and social awareness.

Coffee with the Principal

Thank you to the many families who joined us for our first Coffee with the Principal! These gatherings are such a meaningful way to stay connected, collaborate over ideas, and grow our partnership. We appreciate your feedback, questions, and time.

Cubs at the Quakes

We had a fantastic turnout at our Cubs at the Quakes family night! It was so heartwarming to see our students, families, and staff enjoying an evening together outside the classroom. Moments like these build memories and strengthen the sense of belonging that makes our school so special.

This year, we are deeply committed to inclusion, partnership, and building a school where every student and every family feels seen, valued, and connected. Whether you’re volunteering, attending events, or cheering your child on from home, your involvement makes a real difference.

Let’s keep this spirit going as we move into fall. More opportunities for connection, learning, and celebration are on the way—we’re just getting started!

With appreciation,
Dr. Tremayne
